Montserrate Hill

What an adventurous day!  We took a cable car ride to Montserrate Hill which is at 10,500 ft!   This is 2000 ft above Bogota.  The views were amazing!  We had a wonderful lunch at a great restaurant called San Clara which overlooked the city of Bogota.  We then ventured around taking in the views and enjoying the nice weather.  Ava loved riding in Daddy's carrier.  She enjoyed walking around and checking out the sites. By the end of the day, she was sleeping soundly. No word from the court system yet, hopefully soon!  We love Colombia, but miss our family and friends!  

Love, Love, Love

Yesterday was our one week anniversary of meeting our baby girl!  We honestly don't know what we did without her!  Every morning she wakes up with big smiles and laughs.  She is such a happy girl! She fills our hearts with so much joy!
Our meeting to file our adoption petition went really well yesterday.  We met our Attorney and the Defender of Minors.  They were all very nice people and today our papers get presented in court.  We are hoping and praying for a smooth process!  Today we are excited to explore Bogota a bit more.  We are going to take a cable car to Montserrate Hill.  We should be able to see a "birds eye" view of Bogota!

Smiles and Giggles!

Each day little Ava’s smiles are brighter and more animated.  She looks forward to her nightly bath and has a good time playing in the water.  With every smile, our hearts grow bigger and bigger.  Our appointment today to file the adoption petition was rescheduled until tomorrow.  Hopefully tomorrow things will go as planned!  And breaking news….. Ava rolled over for the first time!!!  She is such big girl!!

February 7th, 2011

We had a busy day today!  After breakfast we went on our daily walk.  Ava loves stroller rides and gives us big smiles when we go down hills or over a bump!  Then after lunch, we had to go get several court documents notarized and then visit Los Pisingos to finish the paperwork that is needed to start our adoption petition tomorrow with the court system. We were able to get a full tour of the home and see Little Ava's home for the past 4 months.  We were delighted to find the home very clean and the children well cared for.  They even had a photo of Tony and I inside Ava's bed for her to see what her new parents look like before we got there! Needless to say, after such a big day, little Ava was worn out.  She fell asleep early while relaxing with Daddy.  We love her more each day and are so grateful to be parents to this precious baby girl!

Sunday

We had a pretty laid-back day.  We went to church this morning and little Ava was quiet as a church mouse!  She is quite the people watcher and had many faces to keep her entertained.  After that we went to a local shopping area and found some really neat items made by Colombian artists and jewelry makers.  Ava slept the whole time we were shopping.   Due to her heavy napping today, we have a heck of a time getting her to finally fall asleep tonight.  She was much more interested in playing than sleeping.  She is a day or two away from rolling over and is working hard at mastering this task.

We just finished watching the Super Bowl in Spanish.  The Packers winning in any language is hard to understand.

Day at the Garden

We finally ventured out a bit today.  We went to the Bogota Botanical Gardens.  It really was beautiful.  Ava had the best day yet.  She was in a happy mood all day.  For about 2.5 hours straight, we just played and she was laughing and smiling the whole time.  We plan to go to church in the morning (Ava may have to translate) and then to a shopping area that is supposed to have a lot of traditional items.

Ava is one happy baby!  Especially after a diaper change, Ava gets very vocal and animated.  She clearly has a lot to say!
